After you place an application, I call you to answer any questions and see if our puppies are a good fit for your family. Once you decide to purchase a Doodle from us, we send you a contract and instructions on how to place a $500.00 deposit. We have a miniature and a medium wait list. When a litter is born, we immediately send a birth announcement on the appropriate list along with a pcture of the litter. In a day or two, we start at the top of our reservations list and reach out to the families on the miniature or medium wait list. You can be on both lists if you want. We will send you an email offering a puppy. We will give you an approximate go home date. If you don't check your email often, please let me know so I text or call instead. We give each family 24 hours to respond to my email and then if we do not hear from you we reach out to the next family on the wait list. It would be greatly appreciated if you would respond quickly as there are others waiting and placement for choosing can be a factor in accepting a puppy.
If you choose to reserve a puppy from that litter, you will need to select a gender. Another $500 deposit is due if you accept and then your puppy is reserved. Please send by Zelle or a check in the mail. We do NOT allocate puppies at birth. Puppy selection is around 7 weeks of age after the vet appointment. There is no way to know temperaments at birth. However, this breed is so consistent that most all should be calm, happy, smart, and healthy puppies. We rarely see hyper or shy puppies. By the time the puppies are 7 weeks old we have a really good idea of their temperament. We urge you to wait and see until this time. 7 weeks of developmental time gives us a chance to know the personalities of each puppy.
When we reach out to you with information about a litter that was just born.... if we do not have the correct gender or not the look you are after or just not the right timing., please reply that you are going to pass and the reason so I know what you are looking for and your timing. If you pass you keep your position ont he wait list. If people ahead of you reserved puppies, You should move up the list, but you won't necessarily be #1 because others may have passed too. After a litter is fully allocated, you can ask me where you are on the list.
You will be given webcam access when they puppies are 3 weeks old so you can watch them grow up. This helps tremendously in making a choice but remember that personalities change as they age. One that appears to be a bully at 5 weeks could be totally docile at 7 weeks of age because Mom and the litter teach them to stop that behavior.
We allow visitors after the puppies are 5 weeks old. We allow 2 visits per family.
1. When the puppies are 6 1/2 to 7 weeks of age all of our puppies are examined by our vet. All of our puppies are microchipped at this exam as well. The puppies get their first immunization very close to 8 weeks of age. You will be given a shot record to take to your vet. The microchip number and instructions for registeringit will be in your "go home" packet.
2. At 7 weeks of age, I will evaluate any puppies for "breed quality" and reserve the right to keep one or two from the litter. I have never kept 2, but still reserve the right. I evaluate structure, coat, overall look, temperament, and size to see if a puppy will fit in my program.
3. At 7 weeks of age, the buyers come to Sequim or we do a Zoom meeting to pick out your puppy. The scheduling is in the order of deposit, so there won't be much leeway in the appointments. We help you choose the puppy that is right for your family. Our attention will be on your family only during that time with individual visits. We know these puppies very well and can help you decide. Please don't come with the illusion that the puppy that came to you first is the one you want. Or that a picture "spoke to you". We will help you pick your puppy.
